F.A.N.C.R - Finally A Nice Crank Radio

The times these days are quite uncertain with countries invading eachother, natural disasters with draughts and floodings as some of the consequences.
This made me think of maybe investing in some basic survival equipment, such as a crank radio. To my surprise, I couldn’t find a single crank radio that attracted me. They all looked like they did when I was a child and it was just like the design world just had not cared about the crank radios and ignored them for the past decades. Maybe this is the reason why none that I know owns a crank radio.
By updating the crank radio with a contemporary and sleek design, I wanted to give the crank radio a facelift, bringing it back in to our world and our homes.
The government of Sweden recommends its citizens to own a crank radio in case of emergency. None of the people I talked to during the project owned a crank radio. It wasn’t something they hade thought of and didn’t wanted to own one either.
My aim was to create such a nice looking product that people would feel a urge of buying instead of a must. Making it a cool tech gadget instead of emergency equipment.
The crank itself folds flat on the backside of the radio, creating a minimal appearance. The handle fits into the hole through the speaker mesh.
